Testimony of
Tamar Livyatan
Tamar Levithan from Nahal Oz started her day even before dawn as usual and was joined by her partner, Yehiel, who was awakened by the sounds of gunfire and barrage. As the sounds increased, the silence of the IDF planes was also felt.
A few hundred meters from Tamar, in a guest apartment of the kibbutz, were her daughter Yehudit and her granddaughter Nathalie. They came especially from Chicago in honor of Tamar's 85th birthday celebration. Tamar had no contact with them from Saturday around noon.
After more than 15 hours in the safe room and when terrorists were still roaming the kibbutz, a military force arrived to rescue Tamar, who agreed to evacuate only after she found out that Yehudit and Nathalie had been kidnapped to Gaza.
Judith and Natalie are the first abductees to be released from captivity on October 20th, 2023.
