Testimony of

Miri Giter

Miri Gitar is a member of Kibbutz Holit. She is married to Ami and is the mother of two daughters, Dar and Gaya, who are in their twenties, and a 15-year-old son, Peleg. On Saturday morning, the family woke up to powerful rocket attacks. Ami, a member of the civil guard, was asked to immediately go to a house in the kibbutz. He was unable to reach the house requesting help due to the high number of terrorists in the area. However, he managed to evacuate his daughters, who live with their spouses on the other side of the kibbutz, in the bachelor's neighborhood.\nMiri and Peleg sought refuge in the safe room, spending the entire day there, feeling completely helpless and only communicating with their eyes. They repeatedly heard explosions, gunshots, pounding on their door, shouts, and screams, and smelled the burning smell of the houses next to them. During that day, Miri called the 7-year-old sister of her daughter Dar's partner, Doron, who also lived in the kibbutz. Her parents were murdered, and she remained alone, hiding in a closet. Miri and Peleg were rescued after approximately ten hours, and the rest of the family arrived later in the final evacuation vehicle. Out of all the rows of houses in the neighborhood, only their house and one other house survived. The residents of the other houses were murdered, and their homes were destroyed. Dar and Doron are now taking on the role of parents to Doron's little sister.
