Testimony of
Michaela Kortsky
Michaela, 45 years old, married, and a mother of four, woke up with her family to the sound of missile interceptions on Saturday morning. It was immediately clear to them that it was something different this time. Since Michaela is a nurse by profession, the members of the kibbutz's civil guard began bringing the injured to her home, where she provided them with first aid using improvised bandages and fluid infusions. One of the injured was in very critical condition, with three gunshot wounds to his back and breathing difficulties. Michaela realized he had to be evacuated. Her husband, Zvika, evacuated him independently to Netivot, under heavy fire, without a weapon, using the family car. As a midwife, Michaela feels that her training prepared her to handle emergency situations.
