Testimony of
Jude Ida Turgeman
Alarms and explosions brought the Turgeman family into the safe room. In the safe room were Jude, her husband, Dudu, and their two children, Ofek, 13, and Ella, 11. The children hid under the bed, and Dudu held the door. The terrorists entered and ransacked the house. Dudu struggled with them over the safe room door and managed to hold it closed. At noon, terrorists entered once more, firing weapons and shouting, resulting in a prolonged struggle for the door. The terrorists turned off the light and turned on the gas, and everything started to burn and explode. The family stayed in the safe room; the children called their friends and their teacher and realized that they might not get out of there, that their friends had been killed, and that one friend was kidnapped. Only after three hours, in the late afternoon, a neighbor came to rescue them with soldiers. When they left the house, they realized that the house was on fire, and everything around was burning: a tank, motorbikes, houses, and scattered bodies. Jude is a photographer whose life enterprise, pictures, equipment, and house are all burnt.
