Testimony of
Irena Kashi
Irena Kashi, mother of three, works as an assistant in the kindergarten of kibbutz Kerem Shalom. On Shabbat morning, she went on a walk with her dogs. When she was out in the middle of the fields, without protection, the sky exploded with missiles, and smoke billowed from the nearby settlements. Irena was sure that she would not get out of there alive. After a time that felt like an eternity, her husband found her, and they went back to the kibbutz, where the standby squad was battling the terrorists. The family barricaded themselves in their safe room for hours. They tried to contact their eldest daughter who was in another house, without protection. On Sunday morning, Irena and her family were rescued.
