Haim Biton
The usual red alerts don’t change Haim Biton’s daily routine. Just like every Saturday morning, he got ready to go for a run. When he was already at the door, he heard the shooting and realized that there was a terrorist infiltration. He was thankful that his daughters had chosen to stay over at his mother’s place in Beit Shemesh. He piled up furniture to delay their ability to enter his house, and grabbed a kitchen knife. He replayed the script that had been running through his mind for years: how he runs away when the terrorists enter. At 3:00 a.m., a day and a half after the incident, Haim realized that the army was not going to send a rescue vehicle any time soon, and decided to take a risk and lead a convoy of three cars out. Luckily, he managed to rescue everyone safely.
