Testimony of

Eyal Barad

When the shootings started on Saturday morning, Eyal Bar'ad, from Kibbutz Nir Oz, realized that this was an unusual event. He, his wife, and their three young children shut themselves up for the whole day while they waited for the army that did not come. With the help of a camera that he had installed outside his house, he saw the invasion of the kibbutz by the terrorists and looters, the burning of the houses, and the kidnapping of a woman. The terrorists entered his house and stole property but did not harm the family. During the day, Eyal became aware of the harm caused to his wife's parents, the death of her father, and the harm to other members of the kibbutz. His energies were directed to maintaining the peace of his family, calming his children, and taking care of his daughter, who needed medication for epilepsy, which they did not have all this time. During the night, the family stayed in a shelter in the kibbutz, where they learned the extent of the damage to the community. Today, in a hotel in Eilat, he is looking for routine and quiet, he remembers
They were lucky, and five out of the five of them remained alive.
