Testimony of
Daniel Dvir
Daniel and her friend arrived at the Nova festival on Saturday night. When the red color alerts sounded, they had time to pack their things and get to the car. Their attempt to escape by car failed, and they separated, each running in a different direction. Daniel, who is mostly alone, thinks that her friends are dead. She struggles with despair and pushes away thoughts of surrender. Attuned to basic instincts, she decides when to hide and when to run. She regulates her breathing and pulse, avoids looking back for fear of freezing, and chooses to run forward. Finally, she joined a group of escapees from the party who hid in a farm where there was a cowshed. Her father, who sneakily bypassed a crossing barrier, rescued her and four others. Another van rescued the rest of the group.
