Testimony of
Amir Levkowiz
On Friday, Amir's two adult children visited him for the first time since he moved to Erez. The next day, at 6 o'clock in the morning, he went out with his friend David to meet their cycling group. However, red alert sirens started blaring before they reached the meeting point, signaling danger. They hurried back to Erez. After making sure that the children had entered the safe room, they joined the alert squad at the kibbutz operations room to defend against potential terrorist infiltration. A search of the neighborhood revealed terrorists who had breached the fence, but the alert squad managed to stop them from entering. Simultaneously, another group of the alert team was fighting the terrorists at the back gate. The first volunteer military force arrived at noon, followed by additional forces. In the afternoon, it became quiet, and Amir instructed his sons to leave for safety. Then, he helped rescue the elderly members of the kibbutz before evacuating. He felt a strong connection to the community and applied to become a full kibbutz member. Sadly, Amir Na'im from the alert squad was killed on that day, and two of its members were seriously injured.
